Complex data visualization of raw material quantities in the context of the energy transition:
In order to successfully implement the energy transition, wind turbines and photovoltaic systems in particular must be built. But which raw materials are needed and in what quantities? And how much of these raw materials are available on the world market? The German Raw Materials Agency is addressing these questions and has commissioned our infographics agency to find meaningful visualizations for them. The challenge: The quantities of the various raw materials vary from a few tons to millions of tons. Our solution: to represent the quantities as volumes in space. In order to correctly divide the spheres into wind and solar power, many calculations and precise geometric drawings were required. The result is a custom-made, precise data visualization that quickly provides insight into the relationships between raw materials, global resources, and energy development.
